Ph.D., Chair, Research Initiatives Committee, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Dr. Mittal is focusing his research on the use of large-scale computer simulations for examining physiological flows. One area of focus is cardiovascular flows where computer simulations have been used to gain a better understanding of blood flow in stenosed arteries and associated bioacoustic signatures. A second area of focus is laryngeal dynamics as it relates to voice production, voice disorders and surgical planning. He directs the activities of the Flow Simulation and Analysis Group in MAE where in the last three years, he has been PI of projects from AFOSR, ONR, NASA, ARO and Dupont Corporation.
