Professor Simon Berkovich received his MS in Applied Physics from Moscow Physical-Technical Institute in 1960 and PhD in Computer Science from the Institute of Precision Mechanics and Computer Technology in 1964, Moscow, USSR. In 1980, he joined the faculty of the George Washington University. Dr. Berkovich played a leading role in a number of research and development projects on the design of advanced hardware and software systems. In 2002, he was elected a member of the European Academy of Sciences "for an outstanding contribution to computer science and the development of fundamental computational algorithms". Simon Berkovich is an author of 5 books and numerous scientific publications in computer science, electrical engineering, and biology. He holds 14 US Patents; presently, one of them ? on a new combinatorial architecture for microprocessor design ? has been licensed by GWU to an industrial company.
